Rape of the Sabine

The Ratto delle Sabine bas-relief (Art. 780) is a decorative panel measuring approximately 40×50 cm (W×H) and weighing around 20 kg, crafted from agglomerato cementizio composto da graniglia di marmo di Carrara e cemento bianco RCK 52,5. Designed exclusively for decorative purposes, it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation on facades, garden walls, entrance portals, and architectural features.

The subject draws from one of the most celebrated episodes of Roman mythology and art history: the abduction of the Sabine women, traditionally dated to the early days of Rome under Romulus. The theme inspired masterpieces across the centuries, most notably the monumental marble group sculpted by Giambologna between 1574 and 1582, now housed in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence, and the dramatic canvas by Nicolas Poussin (1637–1638). Rich in movement, tension, and symbolic power, the composition has long represented a cornerstone of Western figurative art, evoking themes of conflict, foundation, and the intertwining of peoples.

This bas-relief panel integrates naturally into a wide range of architectural and landscape contexts. It can be mounted on exterior facades, rendered or stone garden walls, entrance gates, and pergola pillars, as well as used indoors as a focal point in hallways, living rooms, or feature walls.
