How to choose your garden fountain

The right fountain depends on the effect you want and the space available. Functional garden fountains, with a closed-circuit recirculation pump, are conceived as a central scenic feature: the movement and sound of the water bring courtyards, terraces and green areas to life. Garden fountains with tap combine aesthetics and everyday usefulness, ideal wherever a carefully finished water point is needed.

Each fountain is hand-finished in Carrara marble grit and white concrete, treated to resist rain, frost and UV rays and to keep its shape and colour over time. Sizes and weights are indicative; every model can be enhanced with bases, hydraulic kits and LED lighting to adapt it to its setting, from a private garden to urban design.

Italpark fountains are made of Carrara marble grit: genuine Carrara marble crushed into granules and bound with white cement RCK 52.5, hand-finished. Unlike solid marble — which outdoors absorbs water and tends to crack through freeze–thaw cycles — the marble-grit agglomerate forms a compact body that withstands frost, damp and sun all year round, while keeping the grain and brightness of marble.

How does a functional garden fountain work?

Functional fountains are fitted with a closed-circuit recirculation pump: the water collected in the circular rim is kept in continuous movement, with minimal consumption because it always recirculates the same water.

Can fountains be left outdoors in winter?

Yes: Carrara marble grit and white concrete are treated to withstand rain, frost and UV rays. In winter it is nevertheless good practice to empty the hydraulic part and protect the pump from ice; a water-repellent solution helps protect the surface over time.

What maintenance does a garden fountain need?

Little and simple: periodic rinsing of the rim, checking the pump and, for clear water, an anti-algae product. For the marble-grit surface, a water-repellent treatment keeps its colour and appearance.

What is the difference between a functional fountain and one with a tap?

The functional fountain is a scenic feature with moving water thanks to the pump; the fountain with tap is a practical, hand-finished water point without recirculation. The choice depends on the effect you are looking for in your garden.

Does a functional fountain need to be connected to running water?

No: functional fountains work on a closed circuit. You fill the rim once and the pump keeps moving the same water, so no permanent water connection is needed, only a power socket for the pump. You only top up the water that evaporates.

How much does a garden fountain consume?

Very little: the recirculation pump has a modest power rating and continuously moves the same water, with no waste. Its electricity use is comparable to that of a small household appliance, and the water is only topped up when it evaporates.
