To preserve the vase over time, always ensure the drainage hole remains clear: place a 4–5 cm layer of gravel or pebbles at the bottom before adding soil. Raise the vase 3–4 cm from the ground using feet or supports to prevent the external drainage hole from becoming obstructed. In regions with harsh winters, take care to avoid water pooling inside the vase — if water stagnates and freezes, the resulting expansion can cause cracking. Keeping drainage efficient is the single most important step for year-round outdoor use.
