The Senate gave him the title of Augustus January 16, 27 BC and in 23 BC It was recognized tribunicia potestas and the Imperium proconsulare to life; while in 12 BC It became Pontifex Maximus. He remained in power until his death and his principality was the longest of the imperial Rome.
